The newly launched listening space ‘Seongsuyul Music’ in Seongsu aims to provide a special experience for K-POP fans. This space is designed as a complex cultural venue where fans can stay for a long time and find their own rhythm, going beyond simple music appreciation. The Dolby Atmos-based immersive sound system and flexible seating arrangement set it apart from existing listening spaces. Let’s take a closer look at the specific methods below.
A new type of listening space for K-POP fans is emerging in Seongsu. ‘Seongsuyul’ operates as a complex space with a café on the 1st and 2nd floors and a music listening area called ‘Seongsuyul Music’ on the 3rd and 4th floors, with the café opening first on December 19, 2025. Seongsuyul Music is set to open on February 21, 2026, generating excitement among music fans.
The name of this space embodies the meaning of “finding my own rhythm in Seongsu.” It aims to be an offline hub where fans can stay for a long time and accumulate experiences, rather than just a place to drink coffee and play music.

70 seats on the 3rd floor, 25 seats on the 4th floor… a structure that moves like a performance hall

Seongsuyul Music will consist of approximately 70 seats on the 3rd floor and about 25 seats on the 4th floor. It is designed to allow free movement between floors via internal stairs, creating a flow that breaks away from the traditional way of listening from a fixed position. The seating arrangement is also planned to be flexible, changing according to the nature of the content rather than being fixed for a single type of listening.
This structure weakens the typical grammar of listening rooms (sitting and facing forward) and makes the entire space part of the music experience. As a result, visitors can expect that ‘where they sit’ becomes part of the listening experience.
The key is Dolby Atmos: immersive sound where ‘sound has location’

The biggest differentiator of Seongsuyul Music is its Dolby Atmos-based immersive sound system. While traditional multi-channel systems send sound based on “channels” like left and right, Atmos treats sound as audio objects and places them in spatial coordinates. This creates a sensation where vocals, choruses, and instrument sounds are heard from different directions such as above, in front, and to the sides.

The space will feature an 11.4.4 channel configuration based on Dolby Atmos, utilizing 22 d&b audiotechnik speakers. Furthermore, it is not just capable of playing Atmos, but there are plans to use music designed based on Atmos mixing, which enhances the ‘experiential difference’.
Differences from existing listening spaces: from “front-facing listening” to “moving listening”

Many listening spaces are close to the form of ‘sitting, facing forward, and listening intently.’ In contrast, Seongsuyul Music focuses on broadening the way of listening itself. It allows for the rearrangement of seats rather than fixing them, and it has been reported that programs are being prepared where visitors can move their bodies or lightly dancing while listening to music if they wish.
Additionally, content that combines visual elements has been announced. The aim is not just to end with good speakers but to create an “experiential K-POP listening” by combining spatial design with elements like video and lighting.
The concept of ‘Fan Room’ and anamorphic… the space itself is content
Seongsuyul Music has proposed the idea of creating a ‘Fan Room’ concept by adjusting the angles of the walls to create vanishing points and utilizing anamorphic visuals. Such devices can create an environment where photo and video shooting occurs naturally, aligning well with fandom culture.
In other words, this space is designed to enhance the motivation for visiting by simultaneously creating “good sound” and “scenes worth capturing and sharing.” From a WordPress perspective, this means there are many points where ‘reviews/visit records’ content can be easily produced.
Who is Silo Lab: A media art-based space design group
Silo Lab, which designed Seongsuyul Music, is a media art and space design group that has been active since 2013. They have experience in space design, interactive media direction, and content production at the ‘K-POP GROUND’ on the 2nd floor of the Korea Tourism Organization’s Hiker Ground.
Silo Lab is known for its approach of treating ‘light’ and ‘nature’ as physical properties in its own work. Therefore, the planning of Seongsuyul continues the flow of designing an experiential stay through sensory devices rather than being just a commercial space.
Confidence built from Hiker Ground experience: demand for “offline spaces where fans stay”
The Seongsuyul project started from the experience of operating Hiker Ground. With over 1 million cumulative visitors, it confirmed that there is sufficient demand for offline spaces that K-POP fans can enjoy, and it explains that the plan for Seongsuyul aims to expand that flow into a ‘staying space’.
Ultimately, Seongsuyul Music is designed to intentionally blur the boundaries between listening rooms, exhibition spaces, and fan community spaces. It aims to be a place where music is “listened to” while also allowing fans to accumulate experiences, create content, and form relationships.
