patina is a classic trattoria style restaurant that blends tradition and modernity. run by chefs Honggeun Lim and Gaeyoung Shin, who have been at the forefront of reinterpreting Italian cuisine in a modern way, the space offers a unique gastronomic experience in a cozy atmosphere.
the design and branding of the space was created by Studio Kim Geosil. inspired by the industrial character of the site of the former space company building where Arario Gallery Seoul is located and the Italian modern style, the materials used create a calm yet deep atmosphere. natural stone was used on the walls and floors to emphasize their natural texture, while parallel dark gray lines added dynamism to the space. the glossy black floor adds weight to the light and glass interior, completing the sophisticated look.
branding elements were also carefully planned to work in harmony with the space. patina’s logo is inspired by 1930s Italian typography and features a modern interpretation of Art Deco-style geometric shapes. balanced curves and refined shapes are used to visually express the brand’s identity. the black color and square tile pattern is used on menu boards, business cards, and packaging to maintain a cohesive look, and the tactile experience is also considered, with paper combining rough textures and glossy materials.
these meticulously designed spaces and branding elements make the gastronomic experience at Patina even more special.
