korean Beauty: hermès makes a new home at the Galleria luxury center

    french luxury house Hermès has demonstrated its unwavering love for Korea with the opening of a new store in the heart of Seoul’s Galleria department store. the new Hermès Galleria store, which has moved from the East to the West wing, has been transformed into a unique space inspired by Korean tradition and contemporary culture.

    harmonizing Dancheong and K-pop: space design

    designed by Parisian architecture agency RDAI, the space evokes a playful dialog between the unique culture of Korea and the heritage of Hermès.

    exterior: The store’s exterior is inspired by the dancheong patternof traditional Korean architecture, with a modern twist. anodized metal is used to create an optical illusion of the striped pattern, using the ‘trompe l’oeil’ technique to create a rhythmic and dynamic façade.

    inside: The interior is a bold contrast of vibrant pastels and bold neon colors, inspired by the energetic K-pop culture. greeting visitors from the entrance, Hermès’ signature terrazzo poivre pattern and mosaic logo clearly define the brand’s identity.

    a journey through 16 métiers

    the new store, which is approximately 1.7 times larger, is organized to create an organic experience of Hermès’ 16 artisan workshops (métiers).

    entrance: a collection of fashion jewelry and perfumes welcomes visitors.

    center: The sumptuous Silk Universe takes center stage, followed by menswear and footwear, home and equestrian collections to the left and right.

    inside: Under Hermès’ iconic Grec lights, the leather goods, jewelry, and watches collections are presented in an intimate setting.

    art meets craft

    throughout the store, Hermès craftsmanship and Korean art are combined. the space is illuminated by Kwon Joong-Mo’s creased Hanji paper, while artworks from the Emile Hermès collection bring the space to life. To celebrate the opening, a window display by artist Im Ji-Joohas been installed, paying homage to Hermès’ 2025 theme: “Drawing, the beginning of creation”.
