starfield Suwon, Suwon’s largest cultural complex
opening in 2024, Starfield Suwon willbe the largest shopping mall in southern Gyeonggi Province, with eight floors below ground and eight floors above ground, and a total gross floor area of 100,000 square meters. as a “second-generation Starfield” proposed by Shinsegae Properties, it was designed to be a cultural experience space for the 2040s, moving away from the existing family-oriented space.

1. byeolmadang Library Suwon – The overwhelming scale of the 22-meter skyscraper bookshelves
the centerpiece of Starfield Suwon is undoubtedly the Starfield Library. the Byeolmadang Library, which was a huge hit at COEX in Seoul, is located in the central space on the 4th through 7th floors, and is designed as a vertical structure with a bookcase height of 22 meters.
while the original Coex emphasized curves and warmth, the Suwon branch has straight lines and angular structures, creating a more grandiose impression. it has gone beyond the concept of a shopping mall with books and has become a cultural library in a shopping mall.
