Miu Miu garnered attention at Milan Design Week 24 with a special cultural project.

On April 17 and 18, at the Circolo Filologico in Milan, Miu Miu presented a unique attempt to blur the boundaries between literature and art through its first literary club ‘Writing Life’.

‘Writing Life’ is part of a cultural experience program led by Miu Miu, serving as a forum for discussions that encourage artistic expression and creativity. This project was curated by Italian literary scholar Olga Campofreda, inspired by European traditional literary salons and gatherings of artists.

A Modern Reexamination of Women’s Literature

This literary club centered around two masterpieces,

Alba De Céspedes’ ≪Forbidden Notebook≫

and Sibilla Aleramo’s ≪A Woman≫

. These works, which explored women’s identity and social position against the backdrop of the 1950s, still convey powerful messages today.

In particular, ≪A Woman≫ is regarded as Italy’s first feminist novel, holding timeless significance.

Literary Discussions and Performances with Global Artists

The literary club featured artists from various fields engaging in discussions about femininity, creativity, and artistic experience.

Starting with readings by actress Tina Kunakey and Bel Powley,

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri,

Strega Prize finalist Claudia Durastanti,

writer and filmmaker Sheila Heti,

Viola Di Grado,

Selby Wynn Schwartz,

and Xiaolu Guo participated as panelists, engaging in deep conversations.

Additionally, performer Serena Braida,

musician and poet John Glacier,

singer-songwriter Arlo Parks,

artist Mathilde Fernandez,

and musician Aziya contributed live performances and poetry readings, enriching the stage.

Through this literary club, Miu Miu aimed to expand its role beyond a mere fashion brand to one that disseminates cultural and educational values.
