the link in this issue is the history of Korea-China panda cooperation. panda cooperation between China and South Korea began in earnest in 2014, when a joint statement during President Xi Jinping’s visit to South Korea included support for joint panda research, followed by working-level consultations that led to the arrival of Aibao and Lovao in South Korea in 2016.
current Status of Pandas in Korea
currently, there are four pandas in South Korea, including Aibao and Lovao and twin pandas born in 2023 at Everland (Yongin, Gyeonggi Province). fubao was returned to China in 2024 under an agreement.
