From February 14, an exhibition highlighting the early works of Ha Chong-hyun, a pioneer of Korean monochrome painting, will be held at the Art Sonje Center. Ha Chong-hyun is recognized for opening a new horizon in Korean abstract painting through his ‘pressure technique,’ which pushes paint from the back of the canvas. This exhibition presents a variety of series from 1959 to 1975, divided into four parts, exploring how his experimental painting techniques interacted with the historical context of Korea at that time.

A solo exhibition by German artist Ulrike Toisner, based in Weimar, will be held at Foundry Seoul. She captures spontaneous moments from daily life and incorporates them into her works, metaphorically expressing various social phenomena such as image overload and selfie culture in modern society. This exhibition presents 64 works inspired by the playwright Tennessee Williams’ namesake play, themed around the fleeting yet beautiful concept of ‘youth.’ Notably, this exhibition is significant as it marks the artist’s first solo exhibition in Asia.
