miu Miu Debuts at Milan Design Week 24: A Fusion of Literature and Art

miu Miu stole the spotlight at Milan Design 24 Week with a special cultural project.

on April 17 and 18,Miu Miu presented itsfirst literary club, “Writing Life,” at the Circolo Filologico in Milan,blurring the boundaries between literature and art.

writing Life is part of Miu Miu’s cultural experiences program, a forum for discussion that encourages artistic expression and creativity. Curated by Italian literary scholar Olga Campofreda, the project was inspired by traditional European literary salons and artists’ gatherings.

this Literature Club will feature two masterpieces,

theForbidden Notebook by Alba De Céspedes

andA Woman by Sibilla Aleramo

by Sibilla Aleramo.

exploring the identity and social place of women in the social context of the 1950s, these works still have a powerful message today.

the Woman, in particular, is considered to be the first Italian feminist novel and has a timeless significance.

literary discussions and performances withglobal artists

the Literature Club featured artists from a variety of disciplines to discussfemininity, creativity, and the artistic experience.

starting with readings by actors Tina Kunakey and Bel Powley,

pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri,

strega Award finalist Claudia Durastanti,

writer and filmmaker Sheila Heti,

viola Di Grado,

selby Wynn Schwartz,

xiaolu Guo, and others joined the panel for an in-depth conversation.

musician and poet John Glacier,

singer-songwriter Arlo Parks,

artist Mathilde Fernandez,

and musician Aziya, with live performances and poetry readings.
