In the upcoming first half of the year, we introduce three performances that classical music fans cannot miss. From the voice of a world-renowned tenor to a master of modern minimalism, and a collaboration between a young conductor and Korea’s leading pianist, a diverse array of stages awaits you.

1. Jonas Kaufmann Recital & Opera Concert

Jonas Kaufmann, known as ‘the greatest tenor on earth,’ is visiting Korea for the first time in ten years. After the cancellation of his concert originally scheduled for 2022, the opportunity to hear his voice live has finally arrived.

March 4: He will present a song recital with pianist Helmut Deutsch, featuring works by Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms, and Richard Strauss.

March 7: He will perform an opera gala concert with the Suwon City Orchestra, conducted by Jochen Rieder, featuring arias by Puccini, Bizet, and Giordano.

2. Ludovico Einaudi Concert in Korea

Ludovico Einaudi, a leading figure in modern minimalism and an Italian composer and pianist, is returning to Korea after eight years. His music is well-known for its soundtracks in films like ‘Black Swan,’ ‘Nomadland,’ and ‘The Father.’

3. Klaus Mäkelä & Paris Orchestra & Lim Yun-Chan

Rising conductor Klaus Mäkelä will lead the Paris Orchestra on their visit to Korea. The concert will feature Ravel’s ‘Le Tombeau de Couperin’ and Ravel’s arrangement of Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition.’

June: Pianist Lim Yun-Chan will join as a soloist to present Rachmaninoff’s ‘Piano Concerto No. 4.’ Expect a unique performance combining his original interpretation with the Paris Orchestra’s exquisite playing.
